He was born in Denizli in 1985. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Denizli.
Op. Dr. Serhat Özgün started his medical education at Ege University, Faculty of Medicine in 2004.
He started his urology specialization in Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital in 2011, right after his graduation. He attended Keçiören Training and Research Hospital for kidney stone treatment training and Ankara Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital for pediatric urology training. He completed his specialization training in 2016 and became a urologist.
After his compulsory service in Ankara Kızılcahamam State Hospital, he worked in different private hospitals in Ankara. During this time, he increased his surgical training and experience of the latest technological developments in urology in various hospitals in Ankara;

-Robotic Surgical Techniques in cancer surgical treatment,
-Holep (Laser prostate treatment), REZUM in benign prostate enlargement
-Laparoscopic surgical techniques
-He has improved himself in the fields of RIRS (Laser stone surgery) in stone treatment
