What is Ankylosing Spondylitis?
It can be defined as an inflammatory disease that can cause some bones in the spine to fuse. It is a type of arthritis that causes inflammation in parts of the spine. If the ribs are affected by this fusion, difficulty in breathing may occur. It makes the spine less flexible and a hunched posture occurs.
What are the Symptoms of Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease?
There are symptoms such as fever, neck pain, inflammation of the place where the tendon attaches to the bone (enthesitis), fatigue, loss of appetite, stiffness in the lower back and hip, anemia, mild eye inflammation, pain.
How Is Ankylosing Spondylitis Treated?
For the diagnosis of the disease, primarily a physical examination is performed and the history of the disease is listened. Then, the diagnosis is made through examinations such as x-rays. After the diagnosis of ankylosingpondylitis, the treatment process is planned according to the age and severity of the disease.
The treatment process is carried out primarily to reduce pain and stiffness and to prevent deformities. The treatment process begins with drugs such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, NSAIDs. Muscle strengthening exercises are supported by physical therapy applications.
