Anal Condyloma

Anal condyloma is one of the diseases that our patients who come to the dermatology outpatient clinic of our hospital suffer from or that can be confused from time to time.

What is Anal Condyloma?

Condylomas, known as breech warts among the public, are among the problems encountered due to the HPV virus. It can be transmitted through sexual intercourse. This virus, which has many varieties, enters the cell and changes the DNA structure. The immune system is effective in causing this virus to cause disease. The virus, which can remain for a long time without causing any disease, can also cause penile and anus cancers in men and cervical cancers and skin cancers in women. HPV, a very dangerous virus, can be easily transmitted by contact. Condylomas can grow and multiply.

If left untreated, it can spread to the intestines and cause obstruction. The immune system plays an important role as it is a disease that can recur after treatment. If the immune system is strong, the disease can be defeated more easily. It is important to pay attention to hygiene in this disease.

What Are the Symptoms of Anal Condyloma?

Condylomas manifest themselves with symptoms such as burning, itching, pain and bleeding in the anal region. On the image, they consist of white or pink colored tonsil stone-like clusters in the anal region.

How is Anal Condyloma Diagnosed?

A diagnosis of condyloma can be made by performing some tests after a physical examination. A sample is taken from the lesions caused by HPV infection with the help of cotton and taken to the laboratory environment for examination. In this examination, the progress of the lesions inside the anal canal is checked and if so the anal canal is also examined.

How is Anal Condyloma Treatment?

For the treatment of anal condyloma, the disease may consist of antibiotics, as it is a virus-based disease, and pain relievers, since pain will occur in the area. In surgical treatment, the patient is operated under anesthesia and the type of anesthesia is decided according to the size and multiplicity of the lesions. The areas where the warts are located are cleaned and the warts are burned one by one. Wart control is done on the anus or vagina. If there are warts in these areas, these warts are burned with a laser probe. After diagnosing the disease, our dermatologist will determine the most appropriate treatment method for you and, if necessary, will help you by contacting our infectious diseases specialist.
