Sexual Dysfunctions

Sexual dysfunctions can include problems such as sexual reluctance, orgasm problems, arousal problems and sexual pain for women. Sexual dysfunction in women in this way can lead to a decrease in the quality of life and affect family life.

Vaginismus

One of the most common diseases that cause sexual pain is vaginismus. Vaginismus is a condition that causes involuntary contraction of the vagina during intercourse and causes the individual to suffer (dyspareunia) during this time. The spasm that occurs in the vagina closes the vaginal entrance and prevents sexual intercourse or causes painful sexual intercourse. The disease sometimes occurs by being affected by physical and sometimes psychological factors.
The lower causes of this contraction may also include problems such as fear of experiencing pain, traumas, excessive excitement and lack of sexual information. Sometimes, apart from painful sexual intercourse vaginismus, ovarian cyst, vulvodynia/vestibulodynia, bladder infections, vaginal sagging or dryness etc. may be caused by diseases. An involuntary contraction is experienced and its treatment may vary for each woman.
The specialist doctor makes a definitive diagnosis of the disease with physical examination and preliminary examinations and carries out a treatment process in the communication of the patient doctor according to the patient's condition and the severity of the disease.

Vaginusmus is noticed when the patient has sexual intercourse for the first time. Another notice occurs during the pelvic examination. In the development of vaginismus, the woman feels strange from sexual intercourse, moves away or avoids pelvic examination. Today, most women have low awareness of this issue. Another reason is that the patient is afraid of the situation in the search for the solution of the disease.

During vaginal penetration, a specialist doctor examination is required in cases such as not being able to have sexual intercourse or having painful intercourse. The focus of vaginismus treatments is to weaken vaginal contractions. The treatment process is carried out with methods such as medical treatment, pelvic floor rehabilitation, cognitive behavior therapy and sexual therapy.

Psychological problems lie on the basis of vaginismus cases. In this respect, it is important to get psychological support. In our hospital, sexual therapy coordinates the psychological and physiological treatment process for sexual dysfunctions. Likewise, sexual physical therapy rehabilitation treatments, Kegel exercises, breathing exercises, relaxation exercises are applied as an alternative to treatment methods.
